Driving Edge:  Get the Edge You Need when Traveling

Want to get an edge on the travel information you need?  MoDOT’s Driving Edge program gives you the tools you need to plan your trip.

Before You Go

Gateway Guide – St. Louis Real Time Traffic
MoDOT’s Gateway Guide Transportation Management Center in Chesterfield is staffed 24/7.  The center’s staff monitors the roadways, responds to congestion and incidents and delivers real-time information to travelers through the media, websites, and highway message boards.  You can get current information on congestion and incidents and view real-time photo images of regional roads on the Gateway Guide website at www.GatewayGuide.com or call 1.888.ASK.MODOT (1.888.275.6636) or 314.340.4100.

511 logo

511
St. Louis travelers can dodge congestion by dialing 511 (or 1.877.4STL.511) to get around-the-clock, real-time traffic information.  The free service provides information on incidents, work zones, congestion and average traffic speeds.  The real-time traffic information is sourced from Gateway Guide and provides the same traffic information you can find on the web.

Map My Trip logo   Map My Trip
This web-based travel information tool helps motorists traveling through St. Louis find alternate routes around current highway and ramp closures, especially along the I-64 reconstruction project.  Located at www.modot.org/stlouis, Map My Trip provides simple, street-by-street alternate routes when you provide your starting point and destination.  Many major attractions and hospitals are preprogrammed into the system.  Plan your next trip around current closures in St. Louis City or County by using Map My Trip.

Along the Way

Highway Message Boards
MoDOT has installed message boards along all the interstates in St. Louis to provide information to help you avoid delays and arrive safely.  The changeable message boards give information on scheduled road closings, road construction, accidents and hazardous or uncommon road conditions.  The message boards provide travel times so you can make decisions as you travel along the interstates.

Anytime Day or Night

24/7 Customer Service
You can call MoDOT toll-free anytime day or night to reach a customer service representative who can respond to your issue, question or concern.  The number is 1.888.ASK.MODOT (1.888.275.6636) or 314.340.4100.

I-64 Project Infoline
MoDOT’s I-64 contractor, Gateway Constructors, can be reached to address construction questions and concerns at 314.524.9191. The infoline is answered Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  After hours, you can hear a message on current construction closures and leave a message.
