The New I-64

Construction Zone

This web site provides information for the I-64 reconstruction project, from just west of Spoede Road to just east of Kingshighway Boulevard. If you need information for other roadways or construction projects in the St. Louis region, please view the St. Louis Area MoDOT Weekly Road Construction Report.

On January 2, 2008, reconstruction of I-64/US40 closed all lanes of the highway in both directions between Ballas Road and I-170. That part of the project reopened to traffic before morning rush hour on December 15, 2008.  At the same time all lanes of I-64/US40 between I-170 and Kingshighway Boulevard were closed in both directions.

This means that:

  • At I-64 and I-270, all movements to and from north and southbound I-270 will remain open and you can once again access both directions of I-64/US40 from Ballas Road.
  • Traveling east on I-64/US40, one lane will exit at Brentwood Boulevard and two lanes will merge with northbound I-170 via a flyover ramp. You will not be able to go eastbound on I-64 past Brentwood Boulevard.
  • Traveling southbound on I-170, one lane will be exit only to Eager Road and two lanes will be exit only to westbound I-64 via a flyover ramp.
  • Access to westbound I-64 will be from Brentwood Boulevard or southbound I-170.
  • Traveling west on I-64/US40 from downtown, all lanes will be closed at Kingshighway Boulevard. You will not be able to go westbound on I-64 past Kingshighway Boulevard. The eastbound entrance ramp at Kingshighway will remain open.
